The new financial year has brought some of the biggest changes to the NDIS in several years — and Supported Independent Living (SIL) is right at the centre of them. From 1 July 2026 there is a new NDIS Pricing Schedule, a new SIL claim code, and new registration rules for every SIL provider in Australia.
Here’s what’s changing, what it means for you or the person you support, and what Morang Community Care is doing about it.
For supports delivered from 1 July 2026, all SIL providers now claim under a new registration group and support code — 0138 – Assistance with Supported Independent Living. Supports delivered before 1 July are still claimed under the old code, 0115. You’ll see the new item numbers appear on invoices and in the myplace portal — the supports themselves don’t change.
This is the big one. Under the NDIA’s rules:
What this means for you: if you live in — or are considering — a home run by an unregistered SIL provider, ask them now whether they have applied for registration. If your provider is already registered, nothing changes for you.
Morang Community Care is a registered NDIS provider, so our residents and their families don’t need to do anything. Our invoicing has been updated to the new 0138 items from 1 July.
The NDIA released the outcome of its Annual Pricing Review on 22 June 2026, with a new Pricing Schedule effective 1 July 2026.
Rates now reflect the Fair Work Commission’s 2026 wage decision and superannuation rising from 11.5% to 12%. Sample standard (Level 1) price limits:
| Time of service | Price limit from 1 July 2026 |
|---|---|
| Weekday daytime | $73.58 / hour |
| Weekday evening | $81.07 / hour |
| Weekday night | $82.57 / hour |
| Saturday | $103.54 / hour |
| Sunday | $133.50 / hour |
| Public holiday | $163.46 / hour |
| Night-time sleepover | $311.79 / shift |
Because SIL rosters are built from these support worker rates, SIL funding in plans is adjusted to match. Your provider must discuss any change to your service agreement with you first.
Short Term Accommodation used to be one bundled daily rate covering the stay, meals and support. From 1 July 2026 it’s split into separate items: participant accommodation at $162.85 per day, plus support hours claimed at normal support worker rates. This makes respite invoices clearer — you can see exactly what you’re paying for.
Participants and families: check who provides your SIL and community supports and whether they’re registered. Expect an updated service agreement reflecting the new rates — and remember you don’t have to sign anything you’re not comfortable with.
Support coordinators: confirm the registration status (or application) of any SIL provider you refer to before 1 October 2026, and check invoices switch to 0138 items from 1 July.
We’re a registered NDIS provider delivering SIL, respite (STA), medium-term accommodation and in-home support across Adelaide. Our residents and referrers can expect: invoices on the correct new item numbers, service agreements updated in consultation with you (never behind your back), and a same or next-business-day response to any question about what these changes mean for a plan.
Looking at SIL options, or want to talk through how the new rules affect a participant you support? See our current vacancies or get in touch with our intake team — we reply within one business day.
