Supported Independent Living (SIL) in Central Adelaide

Supported Independent Living pays for the day-to-day help you need to live in a shared or individual home - personal care, medication, meals, getting out, and overnight support. It is funded separately from the rent or board you pay for the house itself.

We run supported homes in Central Adelaide at Kilburn. Each is a regular house in a residential street - not a facility - with awake or sleepover staffing set to the support ratios in each participant's plan.

We match on compatibility first. Before anyone moves in we look at daily routines, communication, sensory needs, behaviour support requirements and how a person likes to spend their time - then arrange a visit and an overnight stay before a decision is made. MCCS is a registered NDIS provider under Modules 1 and 2A, which means our team is approved for high-intensity daily personal activities and specialist behaviour support, so we can take on complex and high-intensity needs that some providers decline.

Short-Term Accommodation and respite (STA) in Central Adelaide

Short-Term Accommodation - what most families still call respite - covers a stay away from home of up to 14 days at a time, including support, meals and activities. It gives a participant a change of scene and gives family carers a genuine break.

For Central Adelaide families we offer planned STA booked in advance around school holidays, carer surgery or a holiday, and emergency STA when a carer falls ill or a living arrangement breaks down at short notice. Stays run in our supported homes with the same staff team, so a participant who already knows a house can come back to somewhere familiar.

STA sits under Core supports in most plans, so in many cases it can be used flexibly without a plan review. If you are not sure whether your plan covers it, contact our team and we will read the plan with you.

Other NDIS support we deliver across Central Adelaide

Alongside SIL and respite we provide Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) for participants waiting on a permanent home, Individualised Living Options (ILO) for people who want to design their own living arrangement, in-home and personal care, community nursing, and social and community participation. We cover the City of Adelaide, City of Prospect, City of Unley and the Town of Walkerville, reaching the Adelaide CBD, North Adelaide, Prospect, Walkerville, Unley and Goodwood and the surrounding suburbs from our office in Hilton.

Common questions

Do you have SIL vacancies in Central Adelaide?

Vacancies in Central Adelaide change as placements are made, so the live list is the best guide - see current SIL vacancies, or call 1300 671 793 and we will tell you what is open today and what is coming up.

How quickly can support start in Central Adelaide?

We reply to every enquiry within one business day. In-home supports can usually start within one to two weeks. A SIL placement takes longer because of the compatibility process - typically a meet, a visit and an overnight stay before anyone commits.

Can you support high-intensity or complex needs in Central Adelaide?

Yes. MCCS is a registered NDIS provider under Modules 1 and 2A, which means our team is approved for high-intensity daily personal activities and specialist behaviour support. Our clinical team includes registered and enrolled nurses, and we take referrals involving PEG feeding, epilepsy management, complex bowel care, tracheostomy and positive behaviour support plans.

Are you taking referrals from support coordinators in Central Adelaide?

Yes, and coordinators are most of our referrals. Call 1300 671 793 or use the referral form and we will send a compatibility profile and current availability the same week.
